How to disable Autofill in Google Chrome

Autofill is usually enabled by default, but you can disable it manually for obvious privacy reasons. Here's how you can disable or turn off the autofill feature in Google chrome autofill settings Chrome:

Step 1:

First, open Google Chrome on your computer/mobile and click on the three-dot menu button at the top-right corner, google chrome autofill settings. There, go to “Settings” tab. You can also go to the Settings directly by searching for chrome://settings in the Chrome address bar.

Step 2:

In the Settings window, find the “Auto-fill” option, and disable autofill individually for all the three categories — Passwords, Payment methods, google chrome autofill settings, & Addresses and more.
 

Step 3:

To turn off autofill for passwords, click on “Passwords” and switch off the toggle next to “Offer to save passwords”. Also, toggle off the “Auto sign-in” option if it isn’t turned off already. Once done, your browser will no longer automatically sign you into websites using stored credentials.
 

Step 4:

For details, tap on “Payment methods” section under Auto-fill in Chrome and repeat the process as you did for passwords.

Step 5:

The same process would be repeated for “Addresses and more” as well. After you disable all the three autofill option in Google Chrome, it will no longer fill any information or passwords in any forms on your computer/ mobile in the future.

How to manage individual autofill settings

To manage Autofill settings and to clear out specific entries, you’ll want to click on Autofill in the list on the left of the Chrome Settings window. This will present a list of Autofill categories: Passwords, Payment methods, & Addresses and more

When you’re filling out a form and Chrome has autofill options for you, the options will typically have a Manage option at the bottom of the list. Clicking that will take google chrome autofill settings to this relevant Settings >Autofill area.

  • If you have any passwords saved in Chrome, Google is providing the additional service of checking your saved passwords against known security issues.

  • See and manage any login information for sites you have saved to Chrome. Use the three vertically stacked dots next to each entry to see more details or remove entry.
  • See and manage a blacklist of sites you’ve told Chrome to never save passwords for.

How to wipe all autofill data

  1. Click on Privacy and security on the left-hand side of the Chrome Settings window
  2. Click Clear browsing data from the new list in the middle
  3. In the popup pane, select Advanced at the top
  4. Check the box for Passwords and other sign-in data
  5. Check the box for Autofill form data
  6. Click the Clear data button on the bottom of the popup frame

Please note that this method won’t prevent your browser from collecting and suggesting additional autofill entries in the future. You will want to pop in to the specific Autofill settings described above to toggle those capabilities off, if you wish to do so.

How to Enable Chrome Autofill

You can quickly enable and disable autofill in Chrome. Here's how to enable autofill for addresses and payment information.

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Select the three-dot menu on the top right of your screen.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Under Autofill, select Payment methods.

  5. Toggle on Save and fill payment methods.

  6. Select the back arrow to go back to Settings.

  7. Select Addresses and more.

  8. Toggle on Save and fill addresses. Close the Settings page by navigating to a website or closing the browser.

  9. Going forward, on most websites, you’ll get a prompt to autofill addresses and payment information.

    If Chrome doesn't prompt you to autofill addresses or payment information, it means either the website you’re on is not secure or the browser can’t detect the appropriate form fields.

How to Disable Chrome Autofill

To disable the setting, go through the same steps to enable it. Instead of turning on Save and fill payment methods, just toggle that switch to the Off position.

Manage Chrome Autofill Settings

When you’ve used Chrome autofill for a while, you’ll eventually have outdated information saved or mistyped addresses. You can add, edit, and delete your information for both addresses and payments.

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. Select your profile icon on the top right. Underneath your profile photo and email address are three icons: Passwords, Payment methods, and Addresses and more, google chrome autofill settings.

  3. Select the Payment methods icon, then choose Add.

  4. Input your credit or debit card details and select Save.

  5. Select the Addresses and more icon.

  6. Select Add. Input an address and choose Save.

    You can add as many addresses and cards as you want.

  7. To edit or remove a payment or address entry, select the three-dot menu next to it.

  8. Select  Edit. Update the entry and choose Save.

  9. Select  Remove to delete an address or payment.

    If you have syncing turned on, your address changes will show up on your other devices.

Update Payment Methods in Google Pay

If you sync your payment methods with Google Pay, you’ll have to make the updates there. 

  1. Go to chambery-turin.com

  2. Select Payment methods.

  3. To add a card, scroll down and choose Add payment method.

  4. To update information, select Edit below the card. 

  5. To delete a card, select Remove underneath it.

Delete Chrome Autofill Data

Finally, you can delete all the saved addresses and payment methods in Chrome at the same time by clearing browsing data. 

  1. Open Chrome.

  2. At the top right, select the three-dot menu

  3. Select More tools > Clear browsing data.

  4. Choose a time range. Options include Last hour, Last 7 days, and All time.

  5. Under Advanced, google chrome autofill settings the box for Autofill form data.

  6. Select Clear data.

    This process will not delete cards stored in Google Pay.

4. Tap the toggle next to Save and fill addresses to turn the feature on or off. You can also edit your saved address information as necessary on this screen.

5. To change the autofill information for payment methods, tap Settings on the top left of the "Addresses and more" screen to head back to the "Settings" page. Then, tap Payment methods above Addresses and more to change your autofill payment information and settings.

How to clear your autofill information on Chrome

If your autofill information is outdated, you can clear it so you can enter more up-to-date details.

1. Open the Chrome app on your iPhone or Android phone. 

2. Tap the three dots — located either to the right of the address bar (on Android) or the bottom-left corner of the screen (on iPhone)  — and select History.

3. Tap on Clear Browsing Data. On Android, this option will be on the top, while on iPhone, it will be at the bottom.

Quick tip: If you don't want to clear your cookies, cache, and history as well, make sure to uncheck those options before clearing your browsing data, google chrome autofill settings, as they're checked google chrome autofill settings default.

4. On Android, select the Advanced tab and tick the checkbox for Autofill form data by tapping on it. On iOS, you'll see the option right away and should tap Auto-fill Data to check that option.
