Microsoft project student - and the
Software Package
The School of Engineering provides a software package for students that includes most of what you will need for this course. Contact the Tandon IT Help Desk at soehelpdesk@chambery-turin.com for more information.
EG explicitly does not offer support for any of the following platforms:
- OpenOffice/LibreOffice
- Google Docs
- iWork: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote
- Linux/Unix
- ChromeOS
- Mobile Devices: iOS/Android/Windows Phone
The use of any of these above mentioned platforms may cause formatting issues and submission troubles. Students may be penalized for these incompatibilities.
The PCs in JAB , , , and are equipped with all the software you will need for the course. Access to these PCs is allowed during Open Lab sessions.
NYU offers a Virtual Computer Lab which has some of the software required by the course installed.

Microsoft Project is available via the NYU Virtual Computer Lab.
Alternatively, Microsoft Project can be installed on Windows PCs. Mac users may install virtualization software or dual-boot with Windows to install Microsoft Project.
The Laptop Help Desk provides Microsoft Project for current EG students at no additional cost. They are located in RH and their hours of operation are Mon Fri, AM PM.

Downloading and Installing Microsoft Project
Please note that this software is intended to be used on Microsoft Windows. If you use a Mac, please try the following:
- Bootcamp on Mac: Install Windows and then Microsoft Project. Bootcamp is a tool offered by Apple that allows you to install Windows on some Macs, such that when you start your Mac, you can choose to start into Windows, or into your regular Mac OS. Note that this will require a valid Windows chambery-turin.com://chambery-turin.com
- Virtual machine on Mac: note that some students in the past indicated that Microsoft Project may perform erratically in this case.
- Install Microsoft Project on an Internet-connected PC, and connect to that machine via remote desktop.
If you run into technical issues or need further assistance, please refer to the Technical Support section below.
1. In your browser, visit chambery-turin.comClick on Sign In.
2. You will be sent to a Microsoft Sign In page. Put in your UA e-mail address (NetID@chambery-turin.com) and click Next.
3. You may receive a prompt asking you to select if your account is a Work or School account or a Personal Account. Select Work or School account.
4. You will be redirected to a UA-branded Microsoft sign-in page, unless you're already logged in. Enter your NetID password and click Sign in.
Note: You may be prompted to sign-in with NetID+, two-factor authentication. Be sure to do that to continue the login process.
5. You should be redirected to the Azure Education portal. To look for software downloads, click on the Software tab.
6. Look for Project in the Software -> Search box. Then click on Project Professional
7. In the pane on the right, click on Product Key to reveal it. You'll be using this in Step 10 to license the software. Store it in a safe place for your records. Click Generate URL to create a link you can use to download your software.
8. After generating a URL, click on the multiple page icon to copy the new URL to your clipboard. Then paste the URL into your browser window's address bar and hit Enter to begin your download of the Project installer.
9. After complete downloading, click on Open to start the Downloaded file.
Right click on the downloaded file to select the mount option or simply double click to start the installation.
Click chambery-turin.com in the folder to start installing Project
An installation window will pop up, click Yes to allow changes to your device.
Wait for Project to install.
Now the installation is complete, Close the installation window.
Now Search for Project in your computer, then click Project to open the software.
The first time you open your Project, the software will ask you for Product Key. This is the digit alphanumeric code you received in Step 7. If you didn't write it down, you will have to revisit the Azure Dev Tools for Teaching to access it.
Project should be ready to use.

Not all students are licensed for Microsoft Project, please check with your instructor to determine if Project is required for your coursework.
Microsoft Project Web App is a robust Web application that you can use to do everything from analyzing portfolios and managing proposals, to entering time in a timesheet and updating task status.
The desktop version can be installed by following the instructions below.
1. Here you can download Microsoft Project from the Office portal. Please make sure you are viewing the Apps & Devices tab show below.
2. Depending on your browser, select Run (in Edge or Internet Explorer), Setup (in Chrome), or Save File (in Firefox).
If you see the User Account Control prompt that says, Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? select Yes.
The install begins
3. Your install is finished when you see the phrase, "You're all set! Project is installed now" and an animation plays to show you where to find the Project app on your computer.
Follow the instructions in the window to find Project, for example depending on your version of Windows, select Start and then scroll to find Project from your list of apps.
Important Information about Mac OS.
Microsoft Project software will run only under a Windows Operating System. While the university fully supplies the Microsoft Project software to you, you are responsible for ensuring your access to the Windows OS. You may accomplish that access by using a Windows PC for your Microsoft Project work. If you use your Mac computer, you must, at your own expense, obtain and install the Windows OS on your Mac and dual-boot. Information related to 'Bootcamp' can be found here. There are several other methods described in the link below, but regardless, you need to buy Windows.

This intermediate-level course provides students with essential skills for mastering Microsofts project management software, MS Project. The popular tool allows project managers to develop schedules, allocate resources and track progress. It also enables managers to perform variance analysis and combine multiple projects. Aspiring project managers are provided a step-by-step tutorial on various functions that are required for every type of project.
Participants are required to have access to MS Project , and are expected to have a basic familiarity with the program, in order to complete this course.

- This course has an Ask the Expert feature, which submits your questions directly to an expert in the field you are studying. Questions are answered as quickly as possible and usually within 24 hours.
- Students must achieve an average test score of at least 70% to meet the minimum successful completion requirement and qualify to receive International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) CEUs. Learners will have three attempts at all graded assessments.

Project for the web will be available for EDU customers starting in early April. Tenant admins will need to take action if they want Roadmap and/or Project for the web.
If you need Project desktop version, you can ask your School Admin to contact phone support for subscription period and billing issue.

I don't understand your response. And, I don't see a "good news" in your message.
"Project Online" seems to exist. I don't see reference to "Project for the web". Is "Project for the web" a new product?
When you say "early in April", do you mean April 1 (which is the day after the academic term starts) or before April 15th. The first option makes my life as a professor difficult because I will need to familiarize myself with "Project for the web" before I can give assignments using it. The second option ensures students will not have a PM tool for the first third of the term.
Trying to add a new software tool in the middle of the term is not "good news" for the educator or the students.

Before you begin Make sure your PC meets the system requirements.
The steps below are for the subscription versions of Project Online, and the non-subscription versions of Project , , , or (For Project or , follow the steps in Office or Office ) Project is sold as a stand-alone application so if you don't have it yet, Buy or try Project.
Project Online Professional or Project Online Premium:
If you have a subscription to one of the cloud-based solutions of Project you won't see an option to install it unless you have an assigned license. If you're the Microsoft admin responsible for assigning licenses, see Assign licenses to users.Note: Project Online Essentials doesn't include a desktop version of Project so no installation is required.
Project Standard or Project Professional:
If you have one of these non-subscription versions you should have a received a product key with your purchase. Before installing Project the first time, sign in with an existing or new Microsoft Account and enter your product key* at chambery-turin.com Redeeming your key links your account with the Project app and you only have to do this once.Note: *Some versions of Project don't have an associated Microsoft account, or work or school account, or you need to redeem your product key in a different way. See the following if this is how you got your version of Project Professional , Project Professional , Project Standard , or Project Standard :
Microsoft Workplace Discount Program (formerly known as Home Use Program): You bought Project for personal use through your company Microsoft Workplace Discount Program benefit and have a product key, see Install Office through Workplace Discount Program. (The same Office install steps apply to stand-alone versions of Project purchased through the Workplace Discount Program.)
Volume license versions: IT departments might use a different method to install volume license editions of Project throughout their organization. Talk to your IT department for installation help.
Third-party seller: You bought Project from a third-party and you're having problems with the product key.Step 1: Sign in to download Project

Non-subscription versionFrom the Office home page select Install Office.

Locate the version of Project you want to install and select Install.
Tip: To install Project in a different language, or to install the bit version, select the link Other options. Choose the language and bit version you want, and then select Install.
Project Online (Premium or Professional)
Subscription versionFrom the Office home page select Install Office apps > Other install options. (If you set a different start page, go to chambery-turin.com)
Under Software, select Project. Choose the language and the bit version you want, then select Install. (To install bit, under Version, select Advanced, choose bit, and then select Install.)
Tip: If Project isn't listed under the Software navigation heading on the left-side of your page, it probably means you don't have a license. Check if you have a license and if you don't, contact your admin and ask to have one assigned to you.
Project should now begin downloading. Follow the prompts in Step 2 to complete the installation.
